Big Sur

BIG SUR

where the mountains meet the sea

Friday night Matt came home from work and said, "Tomorrow, we are going camping!" Those are some of my favorite words to hear. Saturday morning we got up, threw our camping gear in the car, filled the car with gas and starting driving South. After passing Santa Cruz we followed the coast on Highway 1. Although Big Sur is only 102 miles away, it took us about 4.5 hours to get there because we stopped every few minutes to pull over and look at the views. It is a beautiful drive!

We hiked down to the ocean at a handful of spots and loved watching the waves break against the rocky coast. We also hiked a 8.5 mile loop, that went up through the mountains. Here we could see why Big Sur is known for the place "where the mountains meet the sea." There was a huge variety of vegetation and scenery!  Our pictures don't do any justice (especially because it was overcast) but this world is beautiful.

GOD IS GREAT.
